What is Tapestry?

We use educational software called Tapestry, an online learning journal, where you are able to view observation records and contribute towards your child’s learning and development record. This is a GDPR compliant company using secure servers to store data which you access via a website or mobile app by logging into your account using your email address and a password.

Why do we use Tapestry?

The benefits to yourselves from Tapestry being online means you will have secure access to your child’s Learning Journey at any time of the day or night. In addition to viewing our contributions we encourage you to add to the Learning Journey by uploading photos and comments and commenting on observations made by us.

Staff will record observations and reference your child’s learning to the EYFS profile so you will know which area of learning your child is working in for that activity. The observations may also be accompanied by photographs/videos. The online Learning Journeys are not intended to be a daily diary of what your child has been doing at Pre-School and so the number of entries will vary from week to week.

We know how much parents like to see their child coming home proudly with their most recent piece of work and these will be placed in their art bags after we have photographed them.

Is it safe?

E-safety is extremely important to us at Pre-School, therefore as part of your registration with us you will need to understand and agree with our guidelines. There will be a User Agreement within your Starter Form which is completed online. 

How do I access it?

Once you have provided us with an email address we will be issuing you with log in details and information on how to view/use your child’s Learning Journey.  If you do not have access to email your child is still able to have an online Learning Journey which you can access through the use of the Pre-School equipment at specific times throughout the year. Each child will receive a digital copy of their Learning Journey at the end of their time with us.
